The iron pelletizing process is an agglomeration method applied to make fine-grained iron ore concentrates or powders directly usable in blast furnaces and other metallurgical processes. Fine iron ore particles are mixed with a binder called pelletizing bentonite and water to form round or spherical-shaped “pellets.” These pellets are then dried and fired at high temperatures (hardened) to become resistant to high heat, mechanical loads, and abrasion.
